No matter where in England Elizabeth goes, it looks like she can’t avoid a run in with mysterious Mr. Darcy. Rumor has it that while on vacation in London, Elizabeth has had several interesting conversations with Mr. Darcy, one of which included a proposal. Page Six has the exclusive full story here. |
After a long winter, Elizabeth has traveled to London to visit the newly married Charlotte Lucas Collins and Mr. Collins. While staying at the parsonage, she’s had several run- ins with Darcy and his cousin, Colonel Fitzwilliam. On one walk through the countryside, according to Colonel Fitzwilliam, “Yes, we ran into Elizabeth. While making conversation, I told her that Darcy had recently saved a friend from an impudent marriage. She looked ill at the news. I wonder what that was about!”
If we’re guessing right that means it is Mr. Darcy’s fault Jane and Mr. Bingley did not get married. That certainly didn’t win Mr. Darcy any points with Elizabeth!
And points he needed. The next day Darcy, came to the parsonage, confessed his love for Elizabeth, and then offered her a marriage proposal. Darcy told us the proposal went something like ``In vain have I struggled. It will not do. My feelings will not be repressed. You must allow me to tell you how ardently I admire and love you.'' Not the most eloquent or flattering proposal. Elizabeth clearly felt the same way, and rejected his proposal on the spot.
After the rude proposal, Darcy sent Elizabeth a letter. Page Six asked her to tell us the details, and while she wouldn’t say specifics, the summary is “He defended himself about the Jane and Mr. Bingley situation and explained a few things about Wickham. Now I’m all confused and don’t know how to feel.”
It looks like there may be an impending Mr. Darcy and Elizabeth Bennett union after all!
